But before we jump right into Wizkid’s magnificent mansion, we are going to drop a little biography about the talented musician.
Who is Wizkid?
Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known by his stage name “Wizkid” Is a talented Nigerian singer and songwriter. Just like Queen Beyonce, Wizkid’s talent began from the church after he and his church friends formed a group and actually released an album. Wizkid was just 11 at that time.
Wizkid got his breakthrough after he signed unto the Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) record label in 2009. One year later he released his hit track “Holla At Your Boy”.
From then onward, it was one successful hit track to another for the “Starboy”. In fact, Wizkid became so successful over the years that Forbes and Channel O ranked him 5th in the Top 10 Richest / Bankable African Artists in 2013.
If you are wondering what label Wizkid is in right now, then you should know that he left E.M.E records after the expiration of his 5-year recording contract although most people would think it was due to the feud between him and his former label boss, Banky W. Presently, the singer is associated with several record labels such as RCA Records and his own record label Starboy Entertainment which has acts like Maleek Berry, Efya and R2Bees.
Wizkid has also been one to attract endorsement with fat cheques attached to them. His one-year endorsement deal with Pepsi in 2012 was worth 350,000 U.S dollars. Other endorsement deals under his belt, include a one-year deal with MTN Nigeria in 2013, another deal with Guinness, and a multi-million deal with Glo in 2015 reportedly worth N128 million.
When it comes to awards, Wizkid got them all, he has received 3 Billboard Music Awards, 2 BET Awards, 2 iHeartRadio Music Awards, 3 MOBO Awards and many more that are too numerous to list here. You would say that he has more awards than his longtime rival, Davido.
Wizkid’s House In Lekki, Lagos
Unlike most Nigerian musicians who own a house in Nigeria and are quite vocal about it, Wzkid stands out as information about his houses in Nigeria and scanty and mostly rumors.
The musician reportedly has about two houses in two continents.
Wizkid moved into his new house in Lekki due to his dispute with his former label E.M.E. The artiste had been living in the E.M.E mansion ever since his journey in the music industry.
Wizkid’s house in Lekki has been the subject of controversy ever since it was reported by popular blogger Linda Ikeji that his landlord evicted him out of the house after he refused to pay rent. This caused quite a ruckus since Wizkid had claimed he bought the house back in 2013.
The house which is located on Ayinde Akinmade in Lekki Phase 1 was reportedly worth N13 million.
Wizkid’s House In Los Angeles
Unscathed by the news of the eviction, Wizkid unveiled his purchase of a mega-mansion in L.A back in 2016. We don’t just call it a mega-mansion because of the sheer size of it but also because of its cost.
While Wizkid did not reveal the cost of the mansion, realtors have placed the price tag at around $15 million which is way more than Davido’s house in Lekki which is worth N140 million.
The mansion is a three-floor building with a spacious backyard, an outdoor pool and a magnificent view of the city.
Wizkid shared photos of his new crib on Instagram.
Wizkid’s House In Banana Island
In addition to his L.A mansion, there is a rumor of Wizkid’s new house reportedly in the Banana Island area of Ikoyi, Lagos State. Since there is no official information released by Wizkid or other media outlets, we can’t confirm if Wizkid owns a house in Banana Island or not.
The cost of acquiring a property in Banana Island would be around $16 million and would make it Wizkid’s most expensive purchase yet.
Other things Owned by Wizkid
Just like other Nigerian celebrities, Wizkid owns a variety of assets including cars and a private jet. Wizkid shared pictures of his new Lamborghini Urus which he purchased in early November.
You could call it an early expensive Christmas gift because the Lamborghini Urus is worth about N101 million. You might say that Wizkid inspired Davido to get himself the Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2019 which is worth N350 million.
With his amazing collection of cars, houses and a private jet, we definitely agree that Wizkid is one of the best and wealthiest artists in Nigeria.
